Yamaha AW2816 MIDI Remote Template

Thank you for using Yamaha products.

AW2816 Remote -> MIDI tone generator

How to install
This template is stored as MIDI Bulk data. To install the template in the AW2816, load the bulk data file (sm.mid) into a MIDI sequencer and send it to the AW2816 through MIDI.

Overview
This template allows you to control the volume and pan of sequencers with built-in tone generators and multitimbral synthesizers (QY series, MOTIF, etc.) from the AW2816.

Features
This template facilitates mixing with synthesizer/sequencers such as the QY100. Using the AW2816's Automix function makes it possible to achieve more dynamic mixes with such devices.

Function details
The ON buttons of the faders of Remote Banks A and B are assigned to the volume control of MIDI Channels 1-16 [note ON/OFF (Note No. = C3, except for MIDI CH. 10 = C1)]. This makes it convenient to check the voices of each channel. The ON buttons of the faders of Remote Banks C and D are assigned to the pan control of MIDI Channels 1-16, making it possible to center the pan position at the touch of a button.

How to use
1. Connect the AW2816's MIDI OUT/THRU terminal to the MIDI IN terminal of the device you want to control.
2. Set the device to receive MIDI IN signals. (See owner's manual for details.)
3. For QY series sequencers, set the HOST SELECT switch to MIDI.

NOTE: When using this template, you should limit the AW2816 MIDI OUT connections to one device. The template makes extensive use of channel messages, which may inadvertently control other devices in the MIDI THRU chain.

Supported models
QY70, QY100, MOTIF, RS7000 (as of 8/9/01)
