Hamamatsu, Japan ― Yamaha Corporation today announced the release of the SILENT Cello™ SVC300 Series, the latest addition to its string instrument lineup.

The SVC300 Series marks the first model redesign in 19 years. While maintaining the quiet playability of the SILENT Cello, the new model incorporates the SRT Powered System*, delivering the rich resonance and authentic response of an acoustic cello. In addition to the choice of two sound types, players can also adjust the amount of reverb and dynamics by range, allowing them to freely shape their sound according to preference and performance setting. The Series also offers two models with distinct designs and sounds, the C and the F. Each is designed with unique tonal qualities and character, making them suitable for a wide range of applications from recording to live performances.

“The SILENT Cello SVC300 Series is our flagship model, combining the quietness of traditional models with expressive resonance and a natural playing feel that is similar to that of an acoustic cello,” said Jin Sakamoto, senior general manager of the B&O Division. “With the SRT Powered System, players gain a new level of sound-shaping freedom, transforming the instrument into a ‘true expressive tool’ beyond just practice use. We hope for it to become a product that brings inspiring performances by supporting the artistic expression of cellists globally.”

Key Features

1. Pursuing an authentic acoustic cello tone

The SVC300 Series is the first Yamaha SILENT Cello to feature the company’s proprietary SRT Powered System. This SRT Powered System enables the instrument to achieve the natural acoustic sound of a cello, including body resonance and tonal variation, despite its sound box-less design.

* SRT (Studio Response Technology) Powered System: A digital technology that, based on an analysis of the sound of acoustic instruments, adds natural tone and resonance in real time to the sound of instruments

2. Versatile sound design and intuitive controls

Players can choose between two sound types, adjust reverb, and fine-tune dynamics by range to match their preference or performance setting, enabling more expressive play. These adjustments are made by turning knobs on the instrument body, allowing intuitive operation and full-scale sound design without external devices.

3. Two models to match tonal preference and performance style

The C Model features an edgier tone with a tight sound, especially suited for rock or pop performances. On the other hand, the F Model offers a warmer, acoustic-like tone, ideal for high-quality practice and recording. Both models are also available in a pearl white finish, accentuating the individuality of the performer and enhancing stage presence.

4. Refined design and premium wood finish

The C Model features a foldable, sharp design that stands out on stage, while the F Model adopts a frame design reminiscent of an acoustic instrument. Both models make full use of the natural wood texture on the entire exterior, with each instrument showcasing its own unique character. The thinly coated frame, body, and neck highlight the natural grain of the wood, allowing players to enjoy the individuality of real wood and enhancing the joy of ownership.
